Many people have wondered what we are looking for when it comes to Mr. Ohio Leather. After much consideration, we have instituted the following cornerstones to help guide Mr. Ohio Leather in what he must represent and uphold:
- Fraternity - a body of people associated for a common purpose. - Mr. Ohio Leather will foster and promote those things that seek to unite people in the leather community in peace, friendship and family bond.
- Service - an act of assistance to another or others. - When there is need Mr. Ohio Leather will, to the best of his ability and means, give aid to those whom he is able to help.
- Action - Action or doing. - No person can sit idle and find much success. Success is action in motion. Action also means taking a stance on those things which he believes are justifiable causes.
- Leadership - the capacity or ability to lead. - Mr. Ohio Leather must set the standard and be able to live up to it. Leadership also means taking the helm and seeing the goal all the way through to the end.
- Kindred - having a similar or related origin nature or character. - The leather community is not just the Gay Community- It involves ALL who identify as leather. With this in mind he knows that he carries the hearts of all the leather folk in Ohio along with him.
- Community - a group or class having common interests. - Mr. Ohio Leather will always foster and build to make a better community by bridging gaps and encourage those things that strengthen ties both in and out of the leather community.
- Legacy - something received or transmitted from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past. - Mr. Ohio Leather, from this day forward, knows that he will be the temporary custodian of ideals, thoughts and memories and then pass it on to the next. With that, he will carry on in the stead of those who came before him while carving his own niche into the title. He will also have knowledge of the past to guide him on his journey and well after his title year is over.
Be it known that all who possess the title of Mr. Ohio Leather will represent these and uphold these cornerstones to the best of their ability.
